1920's Makeup Trends

What is 1920s style of makeup?

In 1920s the young woman was the unconventional women. She had a different style of dressing with short dresses and bobbed hair.  The makeup was not bold, but it was not very subtle as well. Mascara was applied using melted wax; lipstick was applied twice to get bold color.

What is the most important makeup trend of 1920s?

The eye makeup trend in 1920s was that women wore little or no eyeliner. Dark eye shadow was used on the top of the lid and on the upper part it was not applied and only one color was used. The eyebrows were kept thin and long. Also, there was emphasis on eyelashes. Mascara was applied on the eyelashes. The lipstick used had very bold colors like red. The lips were made up in such a way that they would look plump and pout. On the top lip the lipstick applied was smaller and in the bottom it was shorter at each corner.

The first step in the makeup was to apply the foundation. A cream base was made to start and the foundation was applied. Then, a coat of makeup powder was applied to it.  The cheeks were given a rosy and red shade. The liner was used for giving shape to the lips and then with the help of the brush color was applied to the lips. The makeup was bold and colorful. It was not subtle. It was shown off by the girls and completely different from previous times. The delicate touch was gone and came in the bold colors.

How to copy 1920s trend?

The makeup style is retro and to suit the makeup you have to dress in the same way. The short dresses and short hair goes will with the 1920s makeup. You can try to get the look with the help of makeup. The look will make you seem like a new person.

Lips makeup like 1920's

In the 1920's women preferred deep red, deep brownish reds, plum or orange lipsticks. The trend changed to colors like rose, raspberry or light red by the end of 1920. The lipstick was being used to create the cupid shape bow on the upper lip and then the lower lip is given the extended bow shape.

Eyebrow shape in the Twenties

The women in the 1920s keep their eyebrows high and thin in shape. The eyebrow arc is created using the eyebrow pencil. You need to start to cver up your natural eyebrow using the soap or some type of putty. Now pick up a concealer to hide the natural eyebrow by blending it with your skin color and hue. Once this is done, create the arched bow by using the eyebrow pencils.

Facial Makeup like 1920

You need to start looking at the vintage photos of makeup procedures and styles on the internet. Below are the steps which can be taken up.

- You need to start with exfoliation to remove makeup.

- Now remove the shine by cleansing the face.

- Apply the makeup primer on your face.

- Apply a foundation.

- Apply the cherry red color blush on your cheek bones.

Makeup trends for the 1920's

You have to choose a color which is gray base for the eyeshadow. The gray color gels well compared to the black one. Use this eyeshadow and apply it on your eyelids and remember to apply little eyeshadow up and away the edges of your eyes which adds the typical 1920's dramatic flare. Use the black liner to blend the look of the lashes with the eyeshadow. Last but not the least, apply a few strokes of eye mascara to your eyelashes both on the upper and lower eyelids.
