Being Happy and being Beautiful - Two Sides of Same Coin

Beauty is the side effect of Happiness

That touches our tender hearts,
To let go all afflictions and agonies,
By filling the unforgiving minute with every sixty seconds,
Worth of distance run and strong belief,
And thus I wish to put Mr. Happiness in our hands,
When the moment we age,
We still come to the beach to listen to the rhythm of the waves.

Beauty defined in perspective of Happiness

Beauty is defined as something which brings enjoyment to the person who looks or contemplates. When we say something is beautiful, are we recommending to others that they should take delight in it? Beauty may be intersubjective, but is it objective? Can we argue rationally about whether something is beautiful? Is beauty both skin deep and in the eye of the beholder? Nehamas distinguishes between surface beauty and deep beauty. Yet these questions are still debated, the doubt is thrown less on the understanding that if someone is happy he or she is looking at his/her best.

Beauty and Happiness relation

The beauty in happiness is tied to the relationship. It matters little to me if an actress is happy. But the the happiness of the woman I love is mission critical to my happiness. If she is sad then I strive to make her happy, because her happiness is my mission. To bring out that smile that lights up both her face and my soul.

But if she is naturally a cheerful, calm, sweetly disposed person then I am constantly basking in her smile. That is were the beauty of happiness is. In her smile that tells me she is happy and I can be content.

The perception of beauty manifests a hope that life would be better if the object of beauty were part of it. This hope can shape and direct our lives for better or worse. We may discover misery in pursuit of beauty, or find that beauty offers no more than a tantalizing promise of happiness. But if beauty is always dangerous, it is also a pressing human concern that we must seek to understand, and not suppress.
