Evening Glamour - Tips on making your evening glamorous

Evening looks work best when one feature is emphasized. For example, the eyes have been emphasized while a neutral shade flatters the lips. In make-up, the one-feature rule means highlighting one facial feature and leaving the remaining subdued.

For most of us, evening is a time to experiment with our beauty. We are not governed by those invisible constraints to look professional or understated, that seem to exits during the day. Don't ask me why this is - I'm still trying to work it out myself. I suggest, however, you simply enjoy it.

The hallmark of evening make-up is drama. Not that there is a difference between drams and trying too hard: putting every make-up product you own on your face will not create drama, it will just make you look like you are wearing every makeup product you own. For some of us, drama means creativity (an arty application of eyeliner); for others, it means seductiveness (smouldering lip color), or boldness (glittery orange, yellow and green eye shadow), or trendiness (the latest fuchsia blusher). Regardless of what drama means to you, the most effective way to create it is to practice the one-feature rule. By accentuating a single feature, you will guarantee that whatever look you create appears planned and gorgeous rather than like something you haphazardly what to do with your face.

Focusing on a feature for evening glamour

Concentrating color on one feature also ensures that you will look glamorous instead of tacky, which often happens to a face when there is too much going on. To create your own evening look using the one-feature rule, choose a feature you want to emphasize: your eyes, cheeks or lips. Prepare your skin as you would normally - whether that be with foundation, concealer, or both and dusting of face powder. Next, concentrate your most attention-grabbing color - whether dark or bright - on the chosen feature, downplaying the remaining facial features with neutral colours or no make-up at all. See how great you look?

Keep your smile looking its best by changing your toothbrush as soon as the bristle begin to splay. This means at least every three months. You should brush for at least two minutes, both morning and evening.
