Applying Eyeshadow, How to apply eye shadow in few steps?

Eyeshadow is the most important part of your eyes make-up, because it can help to recontour the eyes and add emphasis to them. As with foundation, blending is of utmost importance.

Sunken eyes look more sunken with eye-shadow. Use foundation instead of eye shadow on such eyes.

Eyeshadow Application techniques - How to apply eye shadow?

Eye shadow come in cream or powder form. Pencils are also available for shadowing. they can either be frosted or provide a matte finish. Some even provide glitter for a gala occasion. You will have to experiment with colours and textures before you find what suits you best.

Powder shadows are more popular because they are easier to apply and blend. An important point to remember is that light colours highlight, while dark colors make the area recede.

Eye shadow know-how

Eye shadow primary purpose is to enhance the eye's shape. A dark tone makes an area recede, while a light or bright shade will bring an area forward. This is why eye shadow is often sold in containers with two shades - a dark ad a light.

How to apply eyeshadow Eye shadow's other use is to draw attention to the eyes, which accounts for the many shades of purples, blues, greens yellows and oranges that come in and out of fashion. Eye shadow is commonly found in powder form, but it is also available in cream, with a sponge-tip wand and in crayons.

Eye shadow Application Tips - Tips on how to apply eyeshadow

  • First choose a tone that helps to give the basic shape to the eyes. Blend outwards towards the outer corner. You can choose from brown, grey, bluish grey, green or pink.
  • High quality powder eyeshadows can be used wet for heavier application by dampening your applicator a little.
  • Use a darker tone in the socket to add depth and to contour the eyes. Finally, use a light tone on the eyes lids and just under the brows.
  • For heavy shadow , use a cosmetic puff and a little pressed powder to tone down. Shake any excess powder off the puff, then press it gently on your lid.
  • It is the best to apply eye shadow with a foaming tipped applicator and then blend with a brush. Again, there should be no obvious lines of demarcation.

Applying Eye Shadow Facts and Tips

When you select colours, remember that dark ones deepen or hollow features, while light ones will make the eyes stand out. Choose bright colours carefully. You should have some Q-Tips at hand, in case you mess up, because if you use your finger, it will probably smear.

It is recommended by experts that, when you are wearing eyeshadow, you should pile on extra loose powder under the eyes to catch any stray particles of eyeshadow. Finish with a careful application of eyeliner to the top lid in a complimentary color.

Eyeshadow Tips

Create a more dramatic line by wetting the brush before stroking it through the shadow. Mist a small amount of water onto the brush, or dab it into a few drops of water and proceed with the line. The shadow may feel wet as you draw your line, but it will dry quickly. To create the perfect look with eyeshadow, make it look like you know what your doing by blending. Don't just add bold colors on top of each other, try to blend it together so it looks like it's one color all over your lid, but you can see the different colors.

If you know you're going to be outside in the sun, and you know you will sweat, just add the foundation powder you usually use on your eyelids. It will suck all the moister and oils that create on your lids and keep your eyeshadow lasting longer.
