Wool is an excellent fabric and one that can last you a long time if you take good care of it. Wool sweaters are perfect for those nippy fall days and snowy winters so you want to get the best use out of them as possible.

Whenever you wash, wash the item delicately and never rub it. If wool gets wet, dry the garment at room temperature away from heat.
If there’s a nap, brush with the nap.
Prior to long term storage, clean garments thoroughly. Store with fresh cedar or mothballs, crystals, or flakes.
How do you care for wool clothing?
You should never put your wool garments in the dryer because that will probably result in shrinking and maybe other damage.
Clean wool articles before placing in storage. Soiled wools are more likely to attract moths. Both dry cleaning and laundering will remove any moth eggs or larvae.
Tips - Washing and Caring for Wool Garments
Agitating wool is what causes it to shrink. Put your sweater in the washing machine but it's important when washing wool to not agitate it more than 45 seconds in the washer then let it soak for an hour or so.
Use a damp sponge to remove soil from woolen knits and finer fabrics.
