Tips on selecting the Body Scrub Recipe

  • Spend more time on areas that tend to be bumpy or rough
  • Using body scrubs can be a messy process, so it's best to apply them in the tub or shower.
  • A film of oil will likely be left on the bottom of the tub or shower; be extremely careful not to slip on this and fall!
  • Coconut oil is solid at room temperature; to liquify it, place it in a pan of hot water.
  • Homemade scrubs contain no chemical preservatives, so they should be stored in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
  • Always use essential oil, not "fragrance oil," which is a chemical fake.
  • When selecting essential oils to use in body scrubs, make sure they are not skin irritants;
  • Apply in the shower or standing in the bath tub to avoid getting too messy.
  • Recipes containing salt or sugar should not be used on very dry or delicate skin.
  • Finish off applying a natural body moisturizer.
  • Oils like rose, lemon, jasmine, lavender and rosemary are all safe to use on the skin.
  • Drink plenty of water to help with the exfoliation and detoxification process

1/3 - 1/2 cup almond oil
1/2 tsp of vitamin E
45-60 drops of fragrance or essential oil

Procedure: Mix almond oil, vitamin E and fragrance or essential oil together in a glass bowl. Add the brown sugar and mix in well. Divvy up into jars and have a great time using it!

Sugar and Nut Body Scrub Recipe

1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup almond oil
45-60 drops fragrance or essential oil

Procedure: Mix almond oil and fragrance or essential oil together in a glass bowl. Add the sugar, finely ground almonds and salt together in a separate bowl and mix thoroughly together. My favorite Body Scrub Recipe

Honey 3/4 cup
Caster sugar 1 cup
Sea salt 1 cup
Jojoba oil 3ml
Fragrance oil 3ml (orange & ylang ylang are beautiful combined with the honey)

Method: Pour honey into medium sized bowl, then add sugar and stir to combine. Add the salt in increments, to adjust the consistency to your liking. (I prefer a consistency not unlike crytallized honey). When all ingredients combine, add oils and stir well. This recipe is particularly long keeping as the lack of water discourages bacteria.

Recicpe of Coffee Body Scrub

  • 2 cups of coarse ground coffee
  • 1/2 cup Turbinado raw sugar
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil

Method: Combine all ingredients in medium bowl. Take a warm bath or hot shower to open your pores and hydrate your skin. Rub the coffee mixture into your skin in large circles with even, firm pressure. Shower to rinse, pat dry, and follow with unscented body lotion or light vegetable oil.
