Large pores are created in two ways and large pores are present anywhere like nose, face or facial skin. The first is through aggressive squeezing of blackheads and whiteheads, which stretches the pore. The second is heavy sebum production. When the sebaceous gland produces large volumes of sebum, the pore is forced to expand to release the oil and is therefore enlarged.
ENLARGED PORES due to natural ageing process and / or oily skin that has been over dried, forcing dead skin cells to harden in the pores and stretch them.
For some of us, enlarged pores are a daily cosmetic annoyance. The good news is that there are ways to minimise their appearance and smooth out your complexion.
The best you can do is keep pores debris-free with thorough cleansing, exfoliation, masks and professional facials - all will help make pores appear slightly smaller.
If you have problem with spots your doctor may prescribe topical antibiotic, Retin-A or Azelic acid, which is a grain derivative that unblocks pores, exfoliates and kiss bacteria.
If you don’t treat the large pores at early stage the pores can look worse than they actually are. Blackheads and pimples may cause large pores if not treated properly. For example, if you squeeze a blackhead or a pimple you may stretch the pore.
Mix 2 egg whites with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply on face and leave on for 5-7 minutes, then rinse with hands. As egg whites dry, they linghten the skin and pull debris out of pores. Lemon is a natural fruit acid which also helps to exfoliate.
Microdermabrasion is a skin cure process wherein the appearance of pores are reduced by roughing the skin which further losens the dead skin clogging the pores. This process also stimulates the collagen of the skin so that the skin looks smoother than ever.
Alpha and Beta Acids - Alpha hydroxy as well as Beta hydroxy acids help in exfoliation of the skin. It prevents dead skin cells from clogging skin pores. Alpha hydroxy acid is water soluble only and beta hydroxy acid also known as salicylic acid is oil soluble. Beta Hydroxy Acid will be able to really get inside the sebum-packed pore. It exfoliates the dead cells present inside the pores.
Tretinoin - This is recommended to be asked from a dermatologist first before starting. If the pores require strong removal, you have to use tretinoin. It is the drug which is also known as Retin-A. It works by unclogging the skin pores by unstiffening of blackheads and hence increased cell turnover. If you feel that the gel-based varient of Retin-A is too harsh, you may also ask for Renova. It comes in a moisturizing base.
Some of the typical Vitamin A treatments do their job of preventing the cells lined along the sebaceous gland from joining together. Commonly used on blackheads, they lighten the plug and chemically peel off the rim of the pore.
Azelaic Acid is another natural product which has gained popularity. It is the naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid which is generally found in grains like wheat, barley, etc. Azelaic acid has shown good progress in the clinical trials against common skin bacteria Proprionobacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
Other treatments which are suggested for clogged and enlarged pores varies from laser resurfacing to using chemical peels. The fundamental behind all the techniques is same, i.e. strip the debris out, remove the blackheads, eliminate hidden bacteria and help the pores to shrink and become tight. Since all these procedures are complicated and aggressive, you should think twice before opting for them.
There is no way whatsoever which can permanently reduce the size of the large pores. However, the good news is that the looks of large pores can be significantly reduced in numerous ways. Cleansing the pores from debris, bacteria, etc will severely reduce the prominent large pores as well. Use a low-strength medication for the purpose. You can even use face wash which contains retinol or vitamin C. These will help your skin to increase collagen and elastin while removing dirt and oil from pores simultaneously.
