What is Pilonidal Cysts?
Pilonidal Cyst is an abcess consists of pus and also contains hair which is mostly occur at the end of tail bone. It is mostly occur in the young men than women.
Causes of Pilonidal Cysts
The cysts may have occur before the birth but creates no problem until bacteria effect them.
It occurs because of irritated and stretched hair follicle on the skin.
Exercise like horseback, cycling etc may cause to pilonidal cysts.
Heat and extensive sweating may also cause to this disease.
Tight cloth at the area of buttocks.
Blockage of hair follicle.
Those who are with stiff hair may fall under this disease.
Symptoms of Pilonidal Cysts
Falling of fluid from the infected area.
Infected area becomes red, tender and drainage.
Pain and swelling in the infected area.
Patient may have fever and chills.
Patient may not be able to sit or walk.
Treatment of Pilonidal Cysts
- Firstly keep clean the area around the tail bone.
- Antibiotics can be used if the area is infected.
- Surgery can be proceed to remove the cyst totally.
Home treatment
- Keep the area clean to avoid infection.
- Taking hot tab bath is useful to prevent the infection.
- Should not wear tight cloths.
- Do not take tab bath when infected area is gauze by the doctor.
- Take all of the medicine advised by the doctor to prevent infection
